James William Courtney, 68, of Stanley, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Page Memorial Hospital.
He was born on August 4, 1957, in Luray and was a son of the late Archie William Courtney and Charlene Campbell.
James retired from the maintenance department at Massanutten Water Park. Following retirement, he enjoyed mowing lawns for area residents.
On February 27, 2002, he married Darla Moulder Courtney, who survives.
In addition to his wife, James is survived by a son, Jeff Courtney and wife Cassie of Stanley; a daughter, Amy Stanley and husband Joseph of Stanley; two sisters, Anna Housden and Debbie Knott, both of Shenandoah; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Keith Courtney; two brothers, Terry Courtney and Dale Courtney; a sister, Wanda Henderson; his stepmother, Beverly Courtney; and his stepfather, Wayne Campbell.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, at the Bradley Funeral Home.
