Jamesway opens

March 24, 1987 — Thursday morning ribbon-cutting ceremonies attended by local dignitaries and civic officials marked the formal opening of Jamesway Corporation’s newest discount department store. The Luray store will employ some 70 area residents, full and part-time, and become a material contributor to the “economic growth of the community,” said Jamesway Chairman Herbert Fisher.
