LURAY, Aug. 30 — Sophomore running back Ryan Jenkins scored Luray’s only touchdown in a heart-breaking 9-7 loss at East Rockingham Friday night. The 2-yard rumble with just 8:11 left in the game gave the Bulldogs a 7-3 lead. Having been held to only a field goal for almost four quarters, the Eagles managed a 5-yard touchdown pass with just 21 seconds left in the game.

Jenkins lead the Luray offense with 108 yards on the ground. The younger brother of former All-Region honorees Brady and Dylan Jenkins, wears the #44 that Brady donned the last two seasons when he earned back-to-back, post-season accolades on both sides of the ball. Older brother Dylan lead Luray to a Region B runner-up finish.

Despite only finding the end zone once, the Bulldogs sustained several long drives. Luray’s opening drive went 13 plays before stalling out and turning the ball over on downs. The touchdown drive lasted 18 plays.

This Friday night, the Bulldogs (0-1) host the Bison of Buffalo Gap (1-0) from the Shenandoah District in a non-district matchup at Bulldog Field. Kickoff is 7 p.m.

Last week, the Bison won their home and season opener, 42-3, over James River (Buchanan).
