The Town of Luray is accepting applications for one, or more, position(s) of:
Public Works Maintenance Worker
This position will entail working on a wide variety of public utility duties including water, sewer, street maintenance, building and grounds maintenance projects, meter reading, mowing, and trimming. Most work is performed outdoors in a variety of manual work and weather conditions. Some after-hours work and emergency response is required. A valid Virginia driver’s license is a requirement for this position. The employee must have or obtain, and maintain, a CDL-A or B within twelve (12) months of their hire date. This position requires the ability to follow verbal and written directions, manual dexterity, small and large equipment operation, and heavy lifting on a frequent basis. Applicants should have a general knowledge in the safe operation of and use of hand tools, power tools, and job-related equipment. Work within confined spaces, in inclement weather and among a wide variety of other weather conditions, and amid dust, noise and fumes is necessary from time to time.
The position is full-time with benefits and has a three (3) month probationary review period. Starting salary is based on experience and qualifications. The position is open to existing Town personnel as well as any interested and qualified person. The Town may hire more than one (1) position from this advertisement.
