Age 73, Luray, Va.
Karen Lenore Harrison Gleason, born September 28, 1951, in Washington, D.C., passed away on June 9, 2025, in Luray, Virginia. She was a longtime resident of Front Royal, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Maxine Harrison; her husband, Craig Gleason; her son, Robert Gleason; and her brother, Robert Harrison.
She is survived by her daughter, Erin Gleason; daughter-in-law, Angela Gleason (Hardy); and grandchildren, Kaila Gleason, Shauna Gleason, and Debra Smith. She is also survived by Craig’s children, Angie and James Gleason. Also, among those especially close to her, was the Bush family, who were longtime friends. She loved them all.
Karen worked for the federal government for over 20 years, including many years as a Park Ranger at Shenandoah National Park. Her career reflected a steady commitment to public service. She was also a talented artist who expressed her creativity through painting and had a lifelong love of reading. Karen had a sharp mind for cards, especially poker, often showing her skill at the Texas Hold’em tables.
Karen loved her family deeply and especially missed her husband, Craig, and son, Robert, after they each passed. She leaves behind many cherished memories shared with family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal, Virginia. A second visitation will take place on Saturday, June 21, beginning at 12 p.m., followed by a service at 1 p.m. at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Warren County.
