LURAY, March 27 — Luray High School handed out awards and honors to student-athletes competing in winter sports during the 2024-25 seasons at a special ceremony March 27 at the LHS auditorium.
Among the awards for Most Dedicated, Most Improved and Most Valuable Player, three of the five teams represented also named a “Gold L” honoree. This recognition “should be awarded to the person who best represents, in a particular sport, what we as teachers and coaches try to instill in our student athletes,” according to a statement from the school. The following might be applied to determine the recipient of this honor:
- Ability(awards, honors, etc.) in a particular sport
- Leadership on and off the field
- Mutual respect involving coaches and teammates.
- Academic stability, not necessarily high grades, but effort in the classroom and to maintain a
positive relationship w/ faculty. - The recipient should have participated for at least three years in a particular sport.
- The recipient should always exhibit sportsmanship in interscholastic contests, practices and
other sessions.

• Gold “L” — Davey Johnson
Indoor Track-Girls
• Most Dedicated — Alyson Shores
• Most Improved — Zoey Viands
• MVP — Annah Wood
• Gold “L” — Annah Wood
Boys Basketball
• Most Dedicated — Riley Benson
• Most Improved — Ayden Haddock
• MVP — Matt Owens
• Gold “L” — Blake Jenkins
Girls Basketball
• Most Improved — Emily Benson
• Most Dedicated — Ella Parlett
• MVP — Caroline Donovan
