Age 73, Elkton, Va.
Maxine Sellers, 73, of Elkton, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024, at her home. Maxine was born June 20, 1950, in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Minnie Bell Crawford Payne, and was raised in the home of her grandparents, Whit and Annie Crawford.
In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Edward Sellers and brother, Billy Payne.
Mrs. Sellers was a member of the Lilly of the Valley Church, Shenandoah Moose Lodge, New Market and Harrisonburg Eagles. She loved Blue Grass music and volunteered at the Elkton Community Center at their weekly Blue Grass Jam. She was also a caregiver at Carefree Home Health in Harrisonburg.
Maxine is survived by sons, John Ford and wife, Alisa, Eugene Whit Ford and wife, Tiffany; daughter, Norma Jean Chevalier and husband, Mark; brother, Mac Payne; sisters, Shirley Shifflett and husband, Ray, Louise Hawl and husband, Pete; granddaughter, Heaven Leigh Ford; several nieces and nephews and best friend, Jane Bibble.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8p.m., Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton with Pastor Dickie Campbell and Evangelist Doug Gochenour officiating. Burial will be private at Elk Run Cemetery.
