Michael William Wharton Jr., 53, of Luray, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
He was born on December 15, 1971, in Culpeper and was a son of the late Otis William Wharton and Eunice Betty Brown Wharton.
Michael is survived by his significant other, Melissa “Missy” Pullen of Luray; two sons, Michael William Wharton III of Fredericksburg, and Daylin Wharton of Charlottesville; three sisters, Betty Foster of Stanley, Mary Anne Wright of Rixeyville, and Vickie Lynn Gould of Madison; two brothers, Larry Otis Wharton of Orange, and Anthony “Tony” Wharton of Fredericksburg; a stepsister, Stacy Mae Aylor of Culpeper; a stepbrother, Michael Dwayne Wharton of Culpeper; his granddaughter, Aleena Wharton of Culpeper; a special nephew, Nick Allen Foster of Luray; as well as six nieces, three nephews and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Taylor Wharton; a son, Chance Wharton; and two brothers, Kevin James Wharton and Johnny Wharton.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, at the Bradley Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles Clinedinst, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Flint Hill Methodist Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Donald Foster Jr., Bobby Bailey, Phillip Wharton, Leonard Wilson, Greg Weaver and Nathan Payne.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bradley Funeral Home to help the family with funeral expenses.
