Milnes mention

January 30, 1889 — After an interval of several weeks we will again pencil a few items of interest. Milnes and vicinity should be represented in your valuable paper, as The Courier is a welcome visitor of many homes here. We find in its well-filled columns interesting matter each week.

Milnes is very lively this week, as the 20th has just passed. On the 20th we shall have plenty money. “Pay day” is always appreciated.

The Ladies Mite Society met last Saturday. They have now on their roll over 30 members. This society was organized by Elder Hamaker, our new Disciple minister. Brother H. is a good preacher.

Luray was well represented here last week by the lawyers of your town. Some poor soul must suffer when they are around.

Dr. Sprinkle is now residing in the building known as the Wyant building, on Front Street. It has been newly fitted up, and we find the doctor comfortable in his new home.

The long felt want, a coal yard, has been filled by Messrs. Brown and Colt. We are glad to see such improvements going on in our town.
