October 28, 1965 — Monday night seemed to be “break-in night” in Shenandoah when four break-ins were reported. The Shenandoah News Stand was entered and a transistor radio, cigarettes, lighters and candy were taken. As usual everything was strewn around. The Bill Bruce Shoe Store was entered and $30 in cash was reported stolen. The L&V Grill, which was recently purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pence Jr. was broken into but no estimate has been made of their loss. And again the soft drink machine in front of Jones Grocery was looted. A number of homes and several business places in Shenandoah were entered several weeks ago. Shenandoah citizens are hoping these culprits will soon be apprehended. Shenandoah Police Department and Page County Sheriff ’s Office are working together to solve the crimes.
