December 2, 1993 — Darwin Lambert, historian, author and one of Shenandoah National Park’s first employees, received an Excellence in Service Award for his long- term service to the Park from Superintendent J.W. Wake.
The superintendent noted Lambert’s activities in relation to the Park over the past six decades and said he has been “consistently involved with the Park and always shared his wealth of information regarding history and resources with Park visitors, volunteers, researchers, as well as Park Staff.”
Wake added that Lambert’s “past support and guidance has been invaluable through the years and this Excellence in Service Award is just a small token of Shenandoah National Park’s appreciation.”
