New clothing plant in Stanley

Town of Stanley

June 29, 1966 — It was announced this week that the new clothing plant in Stanley will begin operations in July. The name of the new plant is Stanley-Page Industries Inc., and it will occupy the old Stanley Theatre Building.

Karl Jenkins, owner of the building, has remodeled the building for its new tenant. The theatre auditorium floor has been leveled and a third floor will be added.

Rocco Rafft, of New Jersey, is superintendent of the factory. He stated that he expects to employ about 60 workers to start with and will be hiring 120 as work on the remodeling of the building is completed. Approximately 150 people will eventually be employed at the plant.

Several truckloads of equipment arrived and were unloaded Saturday. More equipment and machinery are being brought in almost daily.

The factory will make children’s play clothes known as “Little Lassie Togs” and women’s junior petites.
