February 16, 1991 — A church congregation formed in May 1987 with 36 members soon will be gathering in a 300-seat sanctuary. The New Life Gospel Church held services in private homes for a short while after its formation, but soon larger facilities were needed.
The former J.L. Foltz Men’s Clothing Store was acquired and renovated for a sanctuary, Sunday school rooms and restrooms. During the past four years, plans were formulated to build a new church due to the growing membership of the New Life Gospel Church.
Six acres of land was purchased on U.S. 340 north of Shenandoah for the building site and architectural plans were drawn up. Construction began in October on the new facility and it is scheduled to be completed by July 1.
