No one ‘is too poor to take a paper’

Old country road

January 4, 1889 — There was a gentleman in our office last court day, aged 47 — the father of 14 children, 12 living, the oldest only 17 years and the youngest 2 — a working man, who earns his living by daily labor, who pays his way as he goes, who is a regular and prompt paying subscriber to the Courier, and who says it is one of the best educators of his children. We file him as an exhibit of good sense and as a standing contradiction forever that any one is too poor to take a paper.
