October 18, 1990 — The Page County Board of Supervisors last week protested the closing of the Social Security office in Luray. Representatives from the office will no longer have Thursday office hours in Page County due to federal budget cuts, the board was told at its meeting last week. In a letter to Seventh District Rep. D. French Slaughter, dated Oct. 11, the board expressed their discontent with the decision.

“This causes an extreme hardship on the elderly citizens of Page County who took advantage of the office hours each Thursday in Luray,” the letter for County Administrator Ron Wilson said.
