March 1, 1992 — Patrolman G.R. Anderson III of Luray has been named 1991 Officer of the Year by the Luray Police Department, according to Police Chief Albert Judd. Anderson received a plaque last week recognizing the honor.

“The purpose of the award is to recognize the officer for outstanding performance for the year,” Judd said. “It was decided by myself and two sergeants within the department.”

This is the first time the award has been given and the chief said it will be a way to show appreciation for an officer who wants to excel in his job.

Currently, there are 12 officers on the police force.
