Be a leader. Be a role model. Be a friend, and have a BLAST!

STANLEY — Every year, Page County 4-H recruits bright, mature, and dedicated teenagers to lead by example at Page-Frederick 4-H Camp. Counselors will work with a team of peers and adult volunteers to supervise children ages 9-13.

Teen counselors help campers learn how to try new things, deal with homesickness, get along with others who are different from them and to take responsibility for themselves. Counselors help build a thriving camp community that allows everyone to have fun.

Being a Teen Counselor for 4-H Camp is a great way to develop leadership skills, learn more about your strengths, and make new friends. Because being a 4-H Camp Counselor is also a big responsibility, we ask you to complete plenty of training beforehand to prepare you to be a caregiver during camp. This training focuses on leadership, teamwork and safety.

This is excellent preparation for future leadership roles. Teens must be 14 or older by January 1, 2026 and able to commit to the entire week of camp. 4-H Camp will be held June 14-18, 2026 at the NOVA 4-H Center in Front Royal.

Applications are due December 5, 2025. Applicants selected will be interviewed and additional training will be required prior to camp. Information regarding interviews and trainings will be shared once applications are received.

Virginia Cooperative Extension is a partnership of Virginia Tech, Virginia State University, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and local governments.
