LURAY, March 23 — While the Rocky Ridge wildfire in Shenandoah National Park has spread to 1,000 acres and is 10 percent contained, the Route 211 West fire has seen smaller fires merge as it has now scorched more 5,000 acres and is 50 percent contained, according to the Virginia Department of Forestry.

On early Saturday afternoon (not morning as stated in the video below), Page Valley News checked in with Michael Downey of the Virginia Department of Forestry about where the wildfire battle stands after Friday night’s rain.

Evacuees from the fires are asked to contact the Page County Emergency Communications Center at 540-843-0911 to be put on a list to be notified when they are able to return to their residences.
