LURAY, March 27 — This week we recognize a freshman sensation inside the circle for the Panthers of Page County. Summer Pence recorded 15 strikeouts in a 3-2 non-district loss to East Rockingham on March 27. During that stellar performance, Pence retired 13 batters in a row at one point, 10 by strikeout.
Since that narrow loss to East Rockingham to split the non-district series last week, Page County evened up its non-district series with Turner Ashby the next day by defeating the Knights, 4-1, at home on Friday, March 28.
However, the Panthers dropped their Bull Run opener to the Falcons of Central, 6-4, on Wednesday, April 2. Page is now 3-3 overall on the season.
