Page County hosts home opener against East Rock Sept. 4

ELKTON, Aug. 26 — The Page County Panthers opened their 2025 volleyball season on the road at East Rockingham on Tuesday night. The Panthers fell to the Eagles in three straight sets, 25-13, 25-13 and 25-20.
Page County took the opening lead in all three sets, but East Rock was able to jump out to a 10-3 lead in the first set behind strong play from junior Maya Ramirez. She recorded three kills in the opening set, as the Eagles built up a 17-5 lead and cruised to a 25-13 win. The Panthers got two kills from junior Lindsay Babb and one from lone senior Addyson Wyant. Sophomore Aalryah Andrade provided an ace.
Page jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead and kept it close through midway in the second set, only trailing by one at 10-9. However, the Eagles closed out the set on a 15-4 run and won 23-15 behind six aces from sophomore Ayda Herring and three kills from junior Caroline Eppard. Sophomore Peyton Bradley recorded an ace for Page during the second set.
The third and final set was the most competitive of the night. Page again jumped out to a 3-0 lead before East Rock went on a 10-1 run to take a 10-4 lead. But the Panthers weren’t done as they went on their own run and brought the score to 13-10, trailing by three. The Eagles added to their lead and looked like they were going to put the visitors away at 19-12, until the Panthers rallied for an 8-2 run that brought them within one at 21-20. However, East Rock would post the final run of 4-0 to close out a 25-20 win and claim the match, 3-0. Page got two more aces from Bradley and two kills from Wyant. East Rock got four more aces from Herring and two more kills from Eppard.
Up next, Page County (0-1) will enjoy the Labor Day weekend before hitting the court again for their home opener against the Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4.
East Rockingham (2-0) captured a three-set win over Madison on Monday night, 25-23, 25-22 and 25-19. They will now face the Bulldogs of Luray twice before heading to Page. The Eagles are scheduled to travel to Luray this Thursday, Aug. 28, before hosting the Bulldogs on Wednesday, Sept. 3.
