Comer puts up team-high 24 points; Richards adds 22

SHENANDOAH, Feb. 5 — In a game featuring a combined 175 points, a dozen Panthers contributed to a season-high for Page County on Thursday night as they rolled to a Bull Run District win over the Generals of Stonewall Jackson, 111-64.
Senior standout Caden Combs lead the way with 24 points, while senior Dawson Richards added 22. Richards hit five of the Panthers’ 16 three-pointers on the night — three in the first quarter.
Page County racked up 33 points in the fist eight minutes and took a 62-31 lead into halftime. The Generals shot a respectable 43 percent from the floor in the first half, but Stonewall also committed 10 of its 14 turnovers in the first two periods.
The Panthers sat its starters for most of the second half and coasted to a 47-point victory. The lop-sided game allowed some of Page County’s bench to get in the “stat’ line as junior Bradlee Williams put up 15 points, junior Drake Pettit had 13 and senior Gavin Barlow added nine.
Overall, the Panthers hit nearly 59 percent of the 70 shots they put during the game, and went 13-of-18 from the line. Page committed eight turnovers during the game.
Stonewall Jackson was lead by freshman Grant Fields with a game-high 27 points. Senior Aiden Springer had a great shooting night and totaled 18 points, including four three-pointers. Senior Landon Brinkley added 11. Overall, the Generals shot 35 percent from the floor and went 11-of-16 from the line.
Page County (7-4, 11-8) stands solely in second place in the Bull Run District behind a three-way tie for first among a trio of teams at 8-2 in the district — Luray (14-3), Central (14-4) and Strasburg (12-6).
Up next, the Panthers will travel to Clarke (2-8, 3-16) on Friday night, before hosting Madison (2-7, 4-13) Tuesday and traveling to Luray for the regular-season finale on Thursday.
Stonewall (0-10, 1-17) travels to Madison Friday night still looking for a district win.
