SHENANDOAH, Dec. 20 — Page County High School’s wrestling program honored its four seniors last week during a quad match with William Monroe and Buffalo Gap on Senior Night.
“We had four seniors wrestle for their last time at home,” PCHS wrestling coach Greg Martin stated. “I’m going to miss Karma Guinn, Elizabeth Ramos, Nick Moore and Alex Perez.”
During the quad meet, the Panthers got two wins from junior Kaylee Campbell and senior Karma Guinn, to move their individual season records to an identical 8-2. Senior Alex Perez, in his first year of wrestling, went 2-0 on the night and now has a season record of 6-2. Sophomore Michael Shifflett went 3-0 on the night. Sophomore Gunner Stanley, junior Jamie Nunez and senior Nick Moore all went 1-1.
As a team, Page County came up short against Buffalo Gap, 42-30 — but the Panthers got revenge against William Monroe, 38-36, after dropping the season opener on their mat. Page County’s season record is 2-2-1.
“[We] have wrestled with starters out of of the lineup, and could very easily be 5-0 on the year,” Coach Martin stated. “The Page County wrestling team, keeps getting better and better, as the season goes along.”
The Panthers will next wrestle at Madison County on Tuesday, Jan. 2.
“This will be a district match, and we should have our full lineup that night,” Coach Martin stated, “as we have some time to get Jordon Hedrick, Cameron Deneal, and Bryson Cave back and healthy.”
