July 7, 1990 — Foreign competition and a shrinking jeans market may have conspired to put nearly 200 Page County residents out of work. With the imminent closings of three area Wrangler plants, Page workers join a long and inglorious list of textile and apparel industry workers that have lost their jobs since the early 1970s. A Wrangler spokesman said foreign competition has had effect on the U.S. jeans market, but did not have specific figures available Monday.
