Portion of South Page Valley Road closed for about a month for slope repairs

STAUNTON, Sept. 15 — The Virginia Department of Transportation has closed part of Route 684 (South Page Valley Road) in Page County due to slope repairs. The northbound lane of Route 684 is closed about three miles north of Route 675 (Bixler’s Ferry Road). Repair work began [Monday, Sept. 15] and is expected to take about a month.

Traffic traveling in opposing directions on Route 684 will use the single southbound lane, with motorists taking turns at a “stop and proceed when clear” sign. There may be occasional daytime full lane closures regulated by flaggers and on-site crews. Work hours are generally weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. All work is weather permitting.

Motorists are asked to drive with extreme caution. The slope failure is not visible from the road at night.

The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.
