Ralph Franklin Good

Age 86, Luray, Va.

Ralph Franklin Good, 86, passed away at Page Memorial Hospital on Friday, September 13, 2024. He was born on June 8, 1938, to the late Lloyd and Edna Good (Stanley, Va).

He leaves behind twin sons and daughter-in-laws, Alvin and Cheryl Good (Lexington, SC), and Calvin and Lina Good (Grottoes, VA); a brother and sister-in-law, Nelson and Sue Good (Fredericksburg, VA); two grandchildren, Ciara and Aurianna Good (Lexington, SC); and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Marion J. Good, who passed away in November 2008.

Ralph was a devoted Christian and family man and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, neighbors and church family. He had a kind, caring and gentle spirit, and loved to communicate with people. He spent his early years on his parents farm in Stanley, served in the U.S. Navy for four years and traveled overseas to places around the Mediterranean Sea (1956-1960).

Ralph met his wife (Marion) and they were married in November 1961, and started a family with twin boys in 1962 in Luray, VA. He spent 28 years working for Avtex Corp in Front Royal, VA, and 10 years working for VDOT in Fairfax County, VA, and retired in July 2000.

Ralph (and Marion) loved to travel around the U.S., Canada and Alaska during the early retirement years. He had a variety of interests (travel, reading, food, billiards, religious TV programs, occasional TV sports, western and action movies, tinkering with repairs for about anything, learning new technology, and spending quality time with family and friends). He spent his time, talents, and resources assisting and encouraging others so the world was a better place. He’ll be remembered for his humbleness, genuineness, friendliness and compassion.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 20, at the Luray Seventh-day Adventist Church by Pastor Robert Banks, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Luray.
