Raymond Joseph Anderson Jr., 81, of Luray, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025, at the home of his sister, Joan Wright, surrounded by his loved ones and sitter Robin McMillen.
He was born on April 12, 1944, in Stanley and was a son of the late Raymond Joseph Anderson Sr. and Lenora Frances Good Anderson.
Raymond was married to the late Thelma Jean Cave Anderson. Together they had two wonderful children: a son, Raymond Joseph “Joey” Anderson III (Kimberly) of Luray; and a daughter, Sheila Jean Anderson Buckley (Barry) of Luray.
Raymond lived the past 20 years with his niece and caregiver, Robin Freeze of Luray.
Raymond is also survived by two sisters, Mary Frances Broyles (Ed) and Joan Wright (Rusty), both of Luray; four grandchildren, Jessica Seal (Josh), Kelsey Anderson, Stacey Painter and Michael Anderson, all of Luray; and five great-grandchildren, Macy Keyser Seal, Kaislee Clontz, Rowan Seal, Jacob Griffin and Brantley Gregory, all of Luray.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Shenk and Florence Turner; and three brothers, Bobby Anderson, Tony Anderson and Charlie Anderson.
Raymond worked as a concrete finisher. He enjoyed all handyman jobs and helping people.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 15, at the Bradley Funeral Home by Pastor Charlie Turner and the Rev. Charles Turner, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery in Luray.
