Age 91, Rockingham County, Va.
Reva Meadows Shifflett, 91, of Rockingham, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Journey’s Crossing in Elkton.
Mrs. Shifflett was born February 2, 1934, in Page County, Virginia and was the daughter and the last surviving member of the late Samuel Raymond and Florine Cubbage Meadows. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Lewis B. Shifflett; a son, David A. Dean; her siblings, Roberta Breeden, Ethel Downey, Ralph Meadows, Bernard Meadows, and Charles Meadows, and her first husband and father of her children, Hensel L. Dean
Reva was employed with Elkton Garment, where she retired after many years of service as an Inspector. She really enjoyed sewing and was an excellent seamstress. Reva took great pride in taking care of her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s clothing when needed.
She is survived by a son, Nolan Dean and wife, Danielle of Penn Laird; daughter, Patricia Housden and husband, Ralph of Harrisonburg; eight grandchildren, Chris Housden and wife, Rebecca, Teresa Rizzi and husband, Tristan, Jonathan Dean and wife, Chloe, Ashton Beighe and husband, Joey, Alizabeth Dean, Jennifer Thomas, Kayla Dean, and Amber Dean; 11 great-grandchildren, as well as one great great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton, with Pastor Carter Dean officiating. Interment will follow at Elk Run Cemetery.
