Age 68, Shenandoah, Va.
Richard “Rick” Carlton Huffman, 68, of Shenandoah, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville. He was born April 2, 1956 in Harrisonburg and was the son of the late Carl Clarence Huffman and Dorothy Arlene (Dahmer) Huffman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Shelby Huffman Steele and Janelle Brown.
Rick loved to fish, farm and camp. He worked for Kroger for 40 years as head grocery clerk. He was a Virginia Tech fan and animal lover. He loved food and would always say “Lets Eat”. Rick was a handyman; he could fix and build anything; he was meticulous and if he did it, it would be done right. He was always a neighbor, taking care of his community. Rick loved his grandchildren and family. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Sara Huffman; son, Gabe Huffman and wife, Nicole; daughter, Christina Phillips and husband, Scott; sisters, Linda Meyerhoeffer and Peggy Meyerhoeffer; grandchildren, Jasmine, Miakota and Joseph Phillips; special friends, Michael and Angelique Dawson as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Oak Grove Church in Shenandoah with Pastor Deonte McLean officiating with a meal to follow at the church. Burial will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, December 20, 2024 at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.
