The Chrisman Classic is dedicated to the memory of long-time LHS cross country and track coach Mike Chrisman, who passed away in 2017. The event gives all proceeds back towards two senior scholarships awarded each graduation season ($750 each). The scholarship is called “The Mike Chrisman – Pay It Forward Scholarship.” The Chrisman Classic is coordinated by Steve Printz and Dr. Paul Johnson, who were coached by Chrisman in the 1980s.
“The impact that Mike had on Paul [and I] was enormous, as [he] instilled his values, leadership qualities and family-orienting style of coaching to make a difference in the local community and in personal life,” Printz said. “[We] wanted to continue to honor Mike with the Chrisman Classic and in hopes of ‘Paying it Forward’ to others as Mike did for [us] and all who he coached.”
The event always draws a number of cross country and track and field alumni, as well as former coaches, at LHS.
