Age 71, Luray, Va.
Robert Dale Strickler, 71, of Luray, departed this life for his heavenly family home on October 4, 2023, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Better known as “Dale,” he was born on June 8, 1952, and was the son of the late Robert Lee Strickler and Mildred Rhinehart Strickler.
Dale was a 1971 graduate of Luray High School. He was a retired investigator for the Luray Police Department with 25 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Luray Volunteer Fire Department for 46 years, where he held several offices. He was also a member of the Luray Volunteer Rescue Squad and served as senior warden for St. George’s Episcopal Church in Pine Grove.
Dale enjoyed his small farm, raising cattle and pigs. He also enjoyed watching North Carolina and Duke basketball games and attending auctions.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Connie Gray Strickler; Keith Kibler and Sheri Kibler (Quentin Eberly); Leroy Pettit (Sandy); Alice Smith (Eddie); and numerous nieces and nephews, whom he dearly loved.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 9, at St. George’s Episcopal Church by the Rev. Cathy Tibbetts. Burial will be in the Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery in Luray.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 8, at the church.
