Ruby Carolyn Sheffield, 80, of Rileyville, Virginia, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2026.
She was born September 17, 1945, in Rileyville, and was the daughter of the late Virgil S. Alger and Ruby Irene Riley.
Ruby was a faithful member of the Rileyville Baptist Church.
On July 13, 1965, she married the love of her life, James “Jim” Lee Sheffield of Glades Springs, Virginia.
In addition to her husband, Ruby is survived by two daughters, Sherry McAllister (Joe) and Tammy Nauman (Jeff), all of Luray; two granddaughters, Brandy Lucas (Jason) and Katie Walker (Luke); nine great-grandchildren, Emily Clarke, Ally Lucas, Kynnly Lucas, Hudson Lucas, John Walker, Charlie Walker, Branson Lucas, Wyatt Walker and Lane Walker; and her siblings, Shirley Alger, Pat McCauley and Wanda Carney.
She was preceded in death by four siblings, Virgil “Bub” Alger Jr., Nora Hockman, James Alger and Ruth “Cissy” Lentz.
A funeral service was held at the Rileyville Baptist Church on Saturday, March 7, at 11 a.m., with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m.
Arrangements were handled by the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va.
