Sharon Kaye Stanley Kandill, 73, of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Sentara RMH Medical Center, surrounded by her family. Sharon was born on December 11, 1951, in Shenandoah, a daughter of the late Alvin Eugene and Louise Mae (Bailey) Stanley. She attended Page County Schools.
After dedicating over 30 years of service, Sharon retired as an administrative assistant for Immigration and Homeland Security. She had a deep love for travel and cherished riding on the Harley with her husband, Roy. Together, they shared countless memories camping at Colonial Beach and exploring new places. Sharon had strong ties to her community, and her warm heart and loving spirit extended to everyone she met. She will be remembered for her generosity, kindness, and unwavering support for her loved ones. Sharon’s happiness always came second, as she consistently put others first.
Beyond her work and travels, Sharon enjoyed spending time with her family, especially when her son Eric came to town for a visit. She had a passion for creating lasting memories in her childhood home, ensuring every visit was filled with love and laughter.
On November 15, 1969, Sharon married Roy Dale Kandill, who survives. In addition to her husband, her loving spirit is carried on by her son, Eric Kandill, and wife Tina of Centreville, VA; sisters, Kathy Comer and husband Waymie of Shenandoah, Brenda Sorren and fiancé Alton Eppard of Elkton, and Linda Hartley of Harrisonburg; and four beautiful granddaughters, Peyton, Grace, Danielle, and Erica. She is also survived by her very special friend, Susie Comer, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Sharon was preceded in death by two sisters, Bonnie Ferrell and Tammy Lucas.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 10 until 11 a.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton, prior to the service. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., with Pastor Jimmy Kite officiating. Burial will follow at the Fields United Methodist Cemetery in Shenandoah.
Sharon’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her. She will be greatly missed, but her spirit will forever be a part of those she touched.
