Shelby Jean Good Jewell, 69, of Luray, died on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at her home.
She was born on January 19, 1955, in Luray and was the daughter of the late Eunice Rexall Good Sr. and Martha Jane Heiston Good.
Mrs. Jewell worked as an animal caregiver for the Page County Animal Shelter for numerous years. She also previously worked several years for Dr. Clark and team at the Blue Mountain Animal Clinic in Luray.
Mrs. Jewell served as the Page SPCA president for years, often working alongside many other volunteers and local groups, including Page Paws and Cat’s Cradle. Her compassion for animals and lifetime devotion to the many critters in this county and others was her most desired passion. She was also a Christian by faith.
On January 1, 1983, she married Leonard Jewell, who survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband is her furry companion, Duck.
She is also survived by two sisters, Mary Jane Hilliard (Gary) of Rileyville, and Sherry Good of Luray; a brother, Eunice “Billy” Rexall Good Jr. (Faye) of Luray; two half-sisters, Amy Good Hilliard of Stanley, and Chrissie Good Pierce of West Virginia; a brother-in-law, Walter “Bubby” Kibler of Rileyville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Sue Good Kibler; a half-sister, Stacy Ann Good; and her grandparents.
A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, at the Bradley Funeral Home by the Rev. Donnie Sherfey, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 5-6 p.m.
