November 13, 1964 — A 64-year-old Stanley man is charged with assault and battery on Trooper K.L. Miller as a result of a fist blow following an accident Friday evening of last week when a Pontiac car driven by a 19-year-old plunged over a wall in front of the man’s house on U.S. 340 in Stanley. Police said the 19-year- old failed to make the curve at the Adventist Church on U.S. 340 and after striking the curb, careened across the street and plunged over the wall in the man’s yard. A steel pipe on top of the wall was demolished. According to police, the man ran out of the house inquiring if there was insurance and struck Trooper Miller who was looking on while Trooper Kerkhoff was investigating the accident. Trooper Kerkhoff took Miller to the Page Memorial Hospital where he was x-rayed and released. There was no serious injury. The 19-year- old was charged with reckless driving.
