September 23, 1965 — While fishing at Wachapreague, Va., on the Eastern Shore Friday of last week, Leo Strickler Sr. landed a big channel bass or “red drum.”
It weighed 41-1/2 pounds and was 45 inches in length.
He brought the big fish home and had it cut up at Center Market.
“Strick” says he will receive a citation for his fine catch as the citation size in Virginia is 40 pounds for the species.
