LURAY, Oct. 10 — Page County Commonwealth’s Attorney Armanda Clymer announced today that her office had approved charges to be placed against three students in an incident that recently occurred at Page County High School.

Mrs. Clymer stated, “There has been widespread discussion in the community and on social media about an incident that recently occurred at Page County High School. While the allegations are serious, the facts do not match the rumor mongering that is frankly unfair to alleged suspects and victims alike. Our office has spoken directly with the alleged victims and their parents and there is no credible evidence that any sexual assault occurred as has been the subject of wild and rampant speculation.

“Our office has directed the Page County Sheriff’s Office to obtain five juvenile petitions against three separate juveniles for two separate alleged incidents of assault and battery by a mob pursuant to Virginia Code Section 18.2-42. We will zealously pursue these charges, and the identities of victims and alleged offenders will be protected, consistent with the limitations of Virginia law.”

  1. These kids did not make a mistake. They made a choice. They knew what they was doing when this happened so they should not get a smack on the hand. They should be charged as an adult. If you want to do adult things you should be charged as an adult.

    • Agree. Plus where were coaching staff? No adult supervision? This type of incident does not happen in a vacuum. It suggests a culture in which bullying and abuse is accepted.

In addition to charges, the athletic teams should be disbanded until a full review of student safety and adult supervision is completed, with results made public
