February 6, 1887 — John Bush, a former trainman on the S.V.R.R., met with a terrible accident at Luray last Thursday morning about 2 o’clock. The freight train on which he had been employed had stopped at Luray for water when Bush walked out on the bridge over the Hawksbill and fell therefrom headlong to the ground, a distance of about 40 or 50 feet. He was soon picked up, when it was found that one of his legs was horribly mangled. Dr. Hudson was sent for and rendered such aid as his condition required, and the unfortunate man, in compliance with his urgent request, was sent as soon as possible to his home in Hagerstown.
