Thomas Mark Kemp, age 96, passed away peacefully at his home on December 15, 2025. 

He was born on June 18, 1929, in Luray to Ralph Lafayette Kemp and Hazel Virginia Varner Kemp.

On October 19, 1958, he married Marie Elizabeth Brubaker, who survives along with three children, Douglas Allan Kemp and wife Brenda, Dwight Thomas Kemp, and Dianne Lynette Kemp Torresen and husband Rob; nine grandchildren (and spouses), Scott (Amy), Justin (Bridget), Brandon (Paige), Parker (Samantha), Preston, Paige (Victoria), Patricia (Michael), AnneMarie and Sarah; five great-grandchildren, Ryder, Bennett, Theo, Jane and Graham; first cousin, Jerry Varner; and beloved nieces and nephews. His sister, Irma Virginia Kemp Crider, died earlier this year.

Mark graduated from Luray High School with the Class of 1946. He served two years stationed with the U.S. Army in France. In 1954 he began a career with the U.S. Postal Service as a part-time clerk in the Luray office, retiring in 1990 after serving as postmaster in Luray for 20 years.

Mark grew up in Mt. Zion Church of the Brethren and later was a member of the Luray Christian Church Disciples of Christ where he served as Elder for over 50 years as well as serving in many other positions. He was an active member of the Luray Ruritan Club and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

Throughout his life, Mark enjoyed traveling and explored numerous destinations across the United States and abroad with his wife, children and grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. A burial service will follow at Mt. Zion Church Cemetery.
