Thomas “Tommy” Cameron Proffitt, 49, of Luray, VA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 3, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, after a difficult battle with Multiple Myeloma.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Joy Anne McDonough Proffitt; children, Samantha (William) King, Karrah Proffitt, Trenton (Sarah) McDonough and Arrianna Proffitt; grandchildren, Sayde Gray, Cason Gray and Hudson McDonough; siblings, Brenda (Jack) Stewart, Jesse (Tammy) Proffitt Jr., Donna Bailey, Gail (Marty) Proffitt, Betty (Howard) Payton, Jessica (Joyce) Proffitt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Gene Sr. and Mary Patricia Marlowe Proffitt of Luray, VA.
Tommy was born on November 12, 1976, in Front Royal, VA, to the late Jesse Gene Sr. and Mary Patricia Marlowe Proffitt.
Tommy was a beloved husband, father, brother, nephew, cousin and friend. He graduated from Luray High School in 1994.
On September 9, 2017, he married Joy Anne McDonough Proffitt. His children remember him as a loving, kind, gentle, patient and driven father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Tommy was a loving, generous, witty and dedicated husband, father and friend who was always there for everyone and would do anything for anyone. He touched the lives of many with his profound sense of humor, warmth, creativity, curiosity, and gregarious, outgoing nature. He was a Lifetime member of the Luray Moose Lodge 1413. He was passionate about music, particularly Hip-Hop, Heavy Metal, Thrash, Punk Rock, Country and he was an avid sports card collector.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 8, at the Bradley Funeral Home, 187 E. Main St., Luray, VA 22835.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, at the funeral home, with interment to follow at Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery, 1224 US Highway 211 East, Luray, VA. Pastor Justin Dove will officiate the service.
Pallbearers will be Freddy Stidham, David Wiatrowski, Toby Balsley, Jason McDonough, Mike Harris and Jesse Proffitt.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bradley Funeral Home to help the family will expenses.
