STAUNTON — The following is a list of Page County highway work that may affect traffic in the Staunton transportation district during the coming weeks.

The Staunton District consists of 11 counties from the Alleghany Highlands to the northern Shenandoah Valley: Alleghany, Bath, Rockbridge, Highland, Augusta, Rockingham, Page, Shenandoah, Frederick, Clarke and Warren.

Scheduled work is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supplies. Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving tractors during mowing operations. When traveling through a work zone, be alert to periodic changes in traffic patterns and lane closures.

PRIMARY ROADS

Various roads – Mobile traffic control for mowing operations. Flagger traffic control for pipe replacement, ditch work, tree removal, shoulder repairs, pavement patching and brush cutting, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.

SECONDARY ROADS

Various roads – Flagger traffic control for brush cutting and pipe cleaning, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays.

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY 

INTERSTATE 81 

Mile marker 237 to 238, northbound and southbound – Left shoulder closures 24/7. Work zone speed limit 60 miles per hour. Traffic restrictions are for construction of I-81 truck-climbing lanes. Estimated completion June. 

Mile marker 242 to 248, northbound and southbound – Single lane closures 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. and shoulder closures 24/7. Traffic restrictions are for Route 33 bridge and interchange project with completion expected in fall.

*NEW* Mile marker 245 to 250, northbound and southbound – Right shoulder closures including along Exit 245, Exit 247 and Exit 251 off-ramps for sign work, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

PRIMARY ROADS

Route 33 (East Market Street, Harrisonburg) – Single-lane closures as needed. Shoulder closures 24/7. Traffic restrictions are for bridge replacements and interchange improvements with expected completion in September.

*NEW* Route 253 (Port Republic Road) – Eastbound right shoulder closures near Route 726 (Stone Spring Road) intersection for sign work, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

INTERSTATE 81 

Mile marker 268 to 270, northbound and southbound – Single shoulder closures for bridge maintenance, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Jan. 30.

*NEW* Mile marker 271 to 298, northbound and southbound – Right shoulder closures including along Exit 273 and Exit 291 off-ramps for sign work, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. 

*NEW* Exit 291, northbound – Narrowing of off-ramp for environmental cleanup, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.

*UPDATE* Mile marker 293 to 299, northbound and southbound – Slow-roll traffic control (rolling roadblocks) for controlled blasting between 9 a.m. and 12 noon Wednesday. Overnight single lane closures, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. through night of April 30. Shoulder closures 24/7 through May. Work zone speed limit 60 miles an hour. Traffic restrictions are related to I-81 southbound widening project

FREDERICK COUNTY

INTERSTATE 81 

*UPDATE* Mile marker 300 to 302, northbound and southbound – Overnight single lane closures southbound, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. through night of April 30. Single shoulder closures 24/7. Work zone speed limit 60 miles an hour. Traffic restrictions are related to I-81 southbound widening project

*NEW* Exit 302, northbound – Right shoulder closures along off-ramp for shoulder repairs, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. 

Mile marker 306 to 325, northbound and southbound – Overnight left lane closures for cable barrier installation, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. through Jan. 31. 

PRIMARY ROADS

*NEW* Route 37 – Northbound and southbound right shoulder closures at various locations between Route 628 (Middle Road) and just north of Route 50 (Northwestern Turnpike) for sign work, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

SECONDARY ROADS

*NEW* Various Roads – Flagger traffic control on parts of Route 654 (Cedar Grove Road), Route 671 (Green Spring Road), Route 731 (Cattail Road) and Route 1365 (Green Spring Court) for utility work, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

INTERSTATE 66 

*NEW* Mile marker 1 to 0, westbound – Right shoulder closures for shoulder repairs, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

*UPDATE* Mile marker 2 to 0, westbound – Shoulder closures for road work related to I-81 southbound widening, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through May.

INTERSTATE 81 

*NEW* Mile marker 299 to 300, northbound – Overnight right lane closures for sign work, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Thursday nights.

*UPDATE* Mile marker 299 to 300, northbound and southbound – Overnight single lane closures northbound, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. through night of April 30. Single shoulder closures 24/7. Work zone speed limit 60 miles an hour. Traffic restrictions are related to I-81 southbound widening project
