Two seasons, no losses

Back-to-back undefeated seasons for Page County Middle School team

~ PVN staff report

LURAY, March 27  — In the midst of March Madness, this week’s PVN “Athlete of the Week” honor puts a cap on the local winter sports season. While the recognition is about a month overdue, PVN would like to honor the Page County Middle School girls basketball team for its 12-0 run this winter, capping off a second-consecutive undedeated season.

The perfect records recorded during back-to-back seasons in 2024-25 and 2025-26 showcase the talent and determination of these young athletes. This rare accomplishment speaks volumes about their dedication, teamwork, and work ethic both on and off the court.

Under the leadership of coaches Joey and Lia Hilliard, the team has continued to raise the standard for excellence in Page County athletics. Their guidance, encouragement, and commitment to player development have helped shape not only strong competitors, but confident young leaders.

The community is incredibly proud of these student-athletes for representing Page County Middle School with class, sportsmanship, and heart. Congratulations to the players and coaches on an unforgettable season and an outstanding two-year run.

Although PVN does not typically cover middle school — or even junior varsity — athletics, the sports staff still believes that extraordinary achievements should be recognized, at any level. PVN appreciates the patience of the coaches, players and parents, as we worked our way through an extraordinary and busy winter sports season that was filled with record-breaking performances and several district, regional and state titles.
