Age 82, Norman, Ok.
Victor Duane Stuever, age 82, was born on September 22, 1943, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 7, 2025, after bravely battling cancer.
Duane lived in Norman, Oklahoma, for the past 37 years after marrying his loving bride, Sunny Kressen Stuever. Together they spent most of those years as hay farmers and serving their beloved church home. Being on a tractor and baling hay was more than just a way to make a living — it was a joy for Duane to use his big, strong hands and his brilliant mind, because there was always something to fix! He loved making worthless things useful again, just as his Heavenly Father had done for him nearly 50 years ago.
Duane was born and raised on a dairy farm in Luray, Virginia, the middle son of three boys. Always devoted to hard work and doing his very best. In his younger years Duane was not only quite the athlete in school he was very academic as the class Salutatorian. Being a cowboy at heart, he rode broncs and bulls to earn money for college. He went on to graduate from college in New Mexico with a degree in animal science. Over the years, he managed beef cattle ranches in New Mexico, Texas, and eventually Oklahoma, where he began his own hay business.
He was blessed with a daughter, Debbie Wear, and a son, Shawn Stuever, who together gave him six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren — so far. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his greatest joy and the happiest distraction from his love of creating useful things, tinkering and handcrafting beautiful leather work. He treasured attending all their ball games, music performances, and dance recitals, and he never missed a Thunder game with Sunny by his side.
Serving in his church in any capacity, reading Scripture, and sharing his love for God came naturally to Duane and remained a priority throughout his life.
Duane was preceded in death by his son Shawn Stuever, brother Gary Stuever, and nephew Clayton Stuever. He is survived by his devoted wife Sunny, daughter Debbie and son-in-law Darrin Wear, grandchildren Kati Howell, Courtney Roten, Kelsey Hannah, Shelby Cooper, Tyler Stuever, Trevor Stuever, and all of their beautiful children, as well as his beloved brother Bill Stuever and niece Lana Sheedy.
A celebration of Duane’s life will be held at Holy Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1441 SW 104th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73159.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Duane’s name to Holy Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church.
