Wanda Jean Sutton Taylor, 93, of Elkton, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Whispering Pines Assisted Living in Luray, where she was a resident for the past six years.

Mrs. Taylor was born December 3, 1931, in Clarissa, Minnesota and was the daughter of the late Chester Jacob and Harriet Emma Brink Sutton. In addition to her parents, she was pre-ceded in death by her aunt, Annie, who raised her after her mother’s passing; a sister, Dorothy “Dot”; a grandson, Patrick Shifflett, and a number of step-brothers.

On November 6, 1948, she married Melvin James Taylor, who also preceded her in death on June 30, 2002.

Wanda was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Elkton. She enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, deer hunting with family, and traveling. She especially enjoyed visiting Tennessee with her church group and her trip to Austria.

She is survived by her sons, Roger D. Taylor and wife, Debbie, and Gary J. Taylor and wife, Sharon; daughters, Tamara Shifflett and husband, James, and Bonnie M. Armstrong and husband, Paul; grandchildren, Michelle Ruebush and husband, Scott, Matthew Taylor, Joshua Armstrong, Sarah Sprouse and husband, Elbon, Chad Taylor and wife, Misty, Jeremy Taylor, Holly Taylor Lantz and husband, Leon, and Kelly Stephenson and husband, Colby; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Heidi, Heath, Noah, Sean, Cayson, Kaleigh, Chase, Journey, Haven, Brenton, and Liam; step-great-granddaughter, Hallie, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, August 8, 2025, at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton, with Pastor Dickie Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday evening at the funeral home. The casket will remain closed.
