MCCA gets first round bye and advances directly to region semifinal Friday
~ PVN staff report
LURAY — The Mt. Carmel Christian Academy varsity girls basketball team is carrying strong momentum into the postseason after an undefeated district run.
On Jan. 20, the Warriors secured first place in the district, finishing district play without a loss. With one regular-season game remaining, the team is focused on extending its current 11-game winning streak and sharpening its play ahead of postseason competition.
The Warriors have leaned heavily on their high-intensity defense throughout the season, a strength they plan to continue utilizing as postseason play begins next week. Despite being a young squad made up of five sophomores and three freshmen, the team has earned a first-round bye in the region tournament.
Mt. Carmel Christian Academy will advance directly to the region semifinals, where the Warriors are set to face United or Grace on Friday, Feb. 13.
