LURAY, Aug. 17 — The Bulldogs of Luray opened up their cross country season last weekend by hosting the fifth annual Chrisman Classic on their home course and having their own Annah Wood win the girls’ division in 6:05 over 41 other competitors.
In a field of nearly 100 competitors (boys and girls divisions combined) from eight Bull Run District schools, plus East Rockingham and Skyline high schools, the cross country meet held at Luray High School on Saturday proved to be a highly competitive event with a broad field of talented runners.
Luray had three Top 5 finishers in the girls’ division including the winner Wood, as both Maya Jenkins and Carolina Wood tied for fifth place with a time of 6:42.
Annah Wood’s winning time of 6:05 on the one-mile course was good enough for a three-way tie for fifth place on the “all-time top performances” list at the Chrisman Classic in Luray.
