April 19, 1962 — Stanley’s newest industry, Stanley Manufacturing Inc., is now in full swing, employing more than 40 workers and producing some 3,000 dresses per week with a daily average of 600.
The entire operation is completed in the company’s plant, located in the basement of the Stanley Theatre where the material is cut out, the dresses completely finished, pressed and bagged for shipment north.
Rocco Raff, manager, stated that immediate plans call for expansion to 70 employees, then to 100.
More experienced operators are needed as several new machines were installed over the weekend.
The finished dresses are sold to northern markets in New York and New Jersey with Sears-Roebuck being one of the customers.
