Additional water

February 11, 1911 — A citizens meeting of the town was held at the Court House in this place last Friday evening to hear the report of engineer Davis on the proposition for an additional water supply for the town. Mr. Davis recommended piping the water from the stream in Thornton’s Gap to tap the main that leads from the reservoir to the town.

Observations made during the past dry summer show, we are informed, that about twice as much water could be secured from this stream as the Dry Run stream affords at the same season. The length of this pipeline would be about 3-1/2 miles and would cost, according to the engineer’s estimate, about $9,000.
