December 17, 1987 — A Luray man shot and wounded one of three men who robbed him at gun-point at his business Monday evening, according to Luray Investigator Larry R. Harvey.
Tony Michael, owner of TP Radiator and Body Works at 3 Painter St., hit one of the robbers as they fled after taking an undetermined amount of cash. All three suspects in the robbery escaped.
According to Harvey, three white males entered the shop about 5:40 p.m. and requested a radiator for a Chevrolet El Camino. When Michael went to his office to look up a part number, two of the assailants followed him while the third waited in the shop area.
One of the men in the office then brandished a .44 Magnum pistol and pointed it at Michael’s forehead demanding all his money. When Michael said he had none, he was struck repeatedly in the head with the gun.
When the subjects left, Michael managed to grab a revolver and fired through the office window striking one of the suspects. Harvey said blood samples found outside indicated the assailant was hit.
