Big catch

Shenandoah river

May 25, 1887 — Mrs. Wm. Dingus on Wednesday of last week caught with a net at Long’s Mill, on the Shenandoah River, a German carp, weighing nine pounds. The fish was weighed carefully and accurately by Mr. T.W. Dobbs, the miller at that place. We doubt greatly whether a fish of equal weight was ever before caught in the waters of this county.
