December 22, 1887 — Our old friend Peter Long, Esq., has been claiming all the time to have the champion hog in the county.
Having slain his hogship this week, the scales prove his claim.
It weighed 710 pounds and measured eight feet in length (from tip to tip) and six feet around the body.
